My name is Keita Horn and I am the owner and lead designer for Smashing Petals, a Seattle-based floral design company specializing in weddings and events. My design style is organic and exuberant: celebrating natural forms and the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.
My mission is to collaborate with brides to create seasonal bouquets that suit the bride’s personality and wishes. My personal floral designs also include wearable flowers: boutonnieres, wrist corsages, floral combs, pocket squares and crowns—each an original expression of a place and a time. I’ve done several floral collars for couples that wanted to include their pets in their celebrations.
My ceremony and reception creations are inspired by both my clients and their chosen venue. Whether it is an architectural installation (flower curtains, arches, chuppahs, vines) or a decorative accent (vases, centerpieces, garlands, table runners)—the goal is to visually incorporate flowers in the space, giving the impression that they not only belong, but could have grown there.
I’m a Pacific Northwest native and I’m named after my dad, Keith. My name is pronounced “keeta.” I, my son, and my husband live in Ballard. We enjoy kayaking in stormy weather, reading books, traveling and cooking for friends.
